Trio of firsts at Quadrant

The first meeting of the new year for Quadrant Lodge No 8044 was also the first meeting of the year to be held at The Palace, St Anne's. This provided a trio of firsts as the main business of the evening was a first degree ceremony.

The WM Nick Hudson opened the lodge and after conducting the usual business asked the group chairman Ian Ward if he would be so kind as to occupy the chair. Ian indicated that he would be delighted to and once the cobwebs had been dusted off showed that he had lost none of his flair for ritual by initiating the candidate Kevin Frost in a superb ceremony.

The charge after initiation was delivered by the lodge mentor David Kenworthy. After the ceremony, Nick retook the chair and congratulated Kevin on becoming a Freemason and a member of Quadrant Lodge, and wished him many happy years within the lodge.

The group mentor Howard Emmett then took the opportunity to welcome Kevin to the fraternity and presented him with several booklets which Howard hoped would help Kevin in his new position, and stated that should he ever have any questions, all he had to do was ask, and the brethren of the lodge and the wider Masonic community would do their utmost to answer them.

Sadly, due to illness, Kevin's proposer Mike Wenman was unable to attend the meeting, but happily his seconder Terry Hudson was on hand to offer his support. In the risings Terry, as well as other distinguished members and guests, welcomed Kevin as a Freemason and congratulated all the brethren involved for an excellent ceremony.
